The museum's educational account places Điện Hải within resistance to the Franco-Spanish attack on Đà Nẵng in 1858–1860, associating Nguyễn Tri Phương with the defensive effort.

It also presents the monument as a place for remembering sacrifice and valuing peace. The next chapter distinguishes military events from later commemorative interpretation.
